These
unique gold mine & ghost town tours offer you a chance to go down
1,000 feet in the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine and step into the
boots of the 1890's hard rock miner. You will ride the man-skip down
to the 10th level and walk through time as your tour guide explains
the 100-year-old mine and it's heritage. After which, you will
board a modern shuttle and learn about the mine with a rich past and
promising future the famous Cresson Gold Mine operated by
Victor Gold Mining Company.
The
single largest surface gold mine in the state is the Cresson Mine.
This mine is currently is extracting 225,000 ounces of gold annually.
Using surface techniques to remove the gold ore, and modernizing
leaching methods developed in the district in the late 1890's, Cripple
Creek and Victor Gold Mining Company has brought new life to the
Cresson Mine. These tours take tourists through the largest concentration
of ghost towns and old gold mines in the state.
