Buffallo
Bill's Gravesite - Off I-70 West Colorado
Buffalo Bill tried to preserve the buffalo by starting
a protected herd in the latter half of the 19th century. In his honor,
the Buffalo Bill Memorial Museum was erected.
At
the museum you will find Sitting Bull's bow and arrows, Buffalo
Bill's show outfits, Frederick Remington's "Portrait of a Ranch
Hand", and other objects from the Old West.
Another attraction to this location is the one, and the only, grave
of William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody. By his request,
Buffalo Bill was buried on Lookout Mountain in 1917, overlooking
the Great Plains and the Rockies.
Feel the breezes from the high peaks of the Continental Divide,
smell the Ponderosa Pines, and watch the mountain wildlife,
all just thirty minutes from downtown Denver. Because it is part
of the Denver Mountain Parks system, this facility has different
hours depending on the season so call for details.
